Road to Recovery

Posted by George Williams on Friday, January 29th, 2010

What a truly amazing day. Thank you so much to everyone who attended and all the team who helped make it possible. There are many things I’m proud of, and I am privileged to have worked alongside genuine people with so much passion, integrity and experience. So many people on the day cared about other people. How special is that.

We learnt so much, we connected on many levels and there is a genuine belief that we can turn our lives around. For the people who help us, I hope it inspires you to continue, we’re all in this together.

From people taking those first few tentative steps into treatment and recovery, to some highly experienced role models and providers, alongside carers, we achieved so much together.

There was inspiration, debate, discussion, laughter and tears. Our host Nick Mercer was a star and guided us through the whole event with wisdom, humour and 20 years experience under his belt. We were definitely in safe hands.

Byron Katie demonstrated “the work” to a packed audience. She’s the creator of a remarkable and very effective tool that helps people recognise how their thoughts are controlling their feelings and negative behaviour. Katie has brought “the work” to millions of people around the world and the broadcast of her session I guarantee is spellbinding.

There are so many people to thank and be proud of. The short trailer is only a window for only 1 minute on what is a defining moment for the recovery community.
From Tuesday you will be able to start watching the incredible journey that is The Road to Recovery and all the people involved. Thank you for the remarkable support and encouragement you have all given me.

In my unique and privileged position, in my search for recovery, I’m sharing what I’m learning
