The Posse Tonight

Posted by George Williams on Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Trevessa, James, Julie and Jonathan were all sharp and on their best form this evening. An hour of awareness, debate, support and advice was achieved by all. Continueing our week of alcohol abuse and recovery we highlighted the depth and scale of the issues at the same time giving clear professional advice from a team with real experience. News and views covered binge drinking and the nhs plans for “recovery”. Trevessa discussed Radio 1s alcohol experiment. For me highlighting the alarming doctors stats on the drinking epidemic wasn’t obvious in a medical periodical. Behaviour and habits are discussed in detail and Jonathan surprised me with his extract from Buddhist psychology. Julie reminded me of how hard we try to act sober when we’re really drunk and the deceit in hiding our habits.
As James said “it’s all in our head”. For me we gave some great advice and as I like to say “recovery should be fun but some days it hurts.”. And if that all wasnt enough we still managed an update on our covert operation on the “real price” of cheap supermarket booze.
Let go of the fear and take full control of your life, look into the mirror. It all starts and ends there for me
