In search of me

Posted by George Williams on Sunday, December 6th, 2009

It’s been a tough week, it’s been an even tougher year especially with the credit crunch and the impact it has had on many people. Morale has been low, confidence knocked and people are really struggling. Sometimes even the strongest want to pull the covers over and the world to go away. Fear manifests itself in so many ways, anger, resentement, jealousy, blame, frusteration. Financial insecurity, employment, relationships, conflict within us or even just confusion can be so unsettling we seek comfort or answers often in the wrong places. Equally though, some will start to find answers in the right places and with the right people, possibly new beginnings.
It is now more than ever we should have the courage and confidence to follow our instincts and step into the light. It’s important we connect with the right people, sometimes at the price of leaving old friends behind. I see life often as one chapter ending and another starting.
I’ve set a course of where I would like to go and how I would like my life to be. Yes, sometimes there are diversions, even the odd storm, where I must pull in for repairs but I am going in the right direction and I’m ready to discover what it is I’ve been searching for all my life.
This has been the most amazing year of my life and there is still over three weeks left until the end of the year. It’s starting to feel like Christmas, a different one than before. I hope for many it is more family orientated than the commercial one we all seem to have become part of.
Tonight I’m off to Manchester to see ABC, what a blast from the past it will be. They’re performing their most famous album The Lexicon of Love with an orchestra. So I’m squeezing into my jeans and yes the snakeskin boots are coming out. I’ve still got my hair and like the band I’ve survived it all.
