Franciscan Catholic Priest, Stan Fortuna CFR is an accomplished singer/songwriter who uses rap music to reach to young people in his south Bronx neighbourhood.
His interest in music began when he was a child after receiving an electric guitar as a Christmas present. It became quite apparent that Father Stan had a talent, especially when it came to the electric bass.
Father Stan spent much of his youth playing around New York City, before becoming a Catholic priest and one of the eight original members of Community of Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, a Franciscan order established by John Cardinal O’Connor in 1987.
In the same year he established he non-profit Francesco Productions, mixing his music and message, ensuring that any of the proceeds generated were donated to help poor and impoverished families in his local area.
Father Stan still lives in the south Bronx area, even though he travels all around the world performing his music and proclaim the Gospel at conferences, retreats, rallies and festivals in the US, Canada, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean.
During 2008 he performed at World Youth Day, Australia, took part in the Goodstock Festival in Livonia, Michigan and was keynote speaker at the Diocesan Youth Conference in Victoria, British Columbia.
Recently Francesco Productions started Francesco International Love Outreach (FILO) which was started to assist in working with the underprivileged and poverty-stricken areas abroad, including Uganda and Poland.
