In this episode of Inexcess show, George Williams is joined by Tom Fielding, an ex Gulf War veteran, Neil Foster a trauma specialist and Derek Howard-Bud from SSAFA. The subject is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The depth and breadth of this subject is vast, and tonight we hope to gain a better understanding of a disorder that affects up to twenty percent of ex service personnel who see active combat.
Drug addiction, alcoholism, depression, mental ill health, violence, crime, prison sentences and suicide are all products of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and it’s a indictment of our welfare and health system that we fail to help the people who risk their lives to defend our country. There is a lack of support for our returning troops with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and that gap needs to be bridged.
