Our Christmas message this year is an opportunity to say thank you to so many people who have supported us throughout 2010 but at the same time remember those still suffering, feeling low or lonely.
I’ve been fortunate to experience how life can be when you put your demons behind you and start to rebuild your life. In my unique position with Inexcess, I meet thousands of people every year who are recovering. They contribute, they share, they care and they achieve.
Christmas is a time for family and loved ones to come together, so this year if you’re in recovery celebrate Christmas free from pain and shame. Be proud of who you are.
For those of you concerned about a loved one, then don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and ask for help, most of all let your loved ones know there are people and places out there who really understand, and help thousands of people every year to turn their lives around from drink, drugs and mental health problems.
If it helps at all, I thought people wouldn’t understand me - but they do. I just had to be really honest. I thought there wasn’t much help out there but there’s loads, I just had to scratch below the surface and be open minded. Most of all you have to really want it, it takes courage and a lot of change but I promise you it’s worth it.
New year can always be a great place for a new start. So pick up the phone, knock on some doors. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, you are not alone.
Merry Christmas everybody, have a truly fabulous New Year and if in 2011 you care then join us.
